The most-talented photographer Kirsten Zarek, who is a good friend of Jena Chodak's took these beautiful photos of Henry. I'm thinking of submitting them to Baby Einstein. Henry would be a good spokesperson...right?

No Picture
I wish I had a picture, better yet a video of Henry talking and giggling with his grandfather Zada this weekend. It was pure joy! Henry is unmistakeably more chatty with his grandparents. It's very curious. It has been said, often, that Henry has an old soul. Maybe he has more to say to those that have lived longer?

Fascination
Henry is fascinated by everything today. It's pure wonder and so exciting to watch - color, light, texture, sound. It's as if the world existed for Henry's amusement. He likes to swat at things and then look shocked when he actually makes something move.

22 day countdown
10 days of ignoring Henry's blog. Shame on me! Well I'm back on it. As of a few days ago, I am going back to work on or around March 15th. So for the next 22 days I vow to document as much of Henry's life as I can. Henry is 11 weeks old today. He's growing like mad. I swear he grew a second chin just this weekend!

God Bless The Swing
Gabe and I were the parents who said no to all of the stuff, renounced consumer madness around babies, and declared that we would chose the simple, minimal path. We chose hot water and paper towels over prepackaged wipes, an eight foot piece of fabric instead of the baby bjorn. This was BEFORE the swing.
Jeremy and Claudine gave us this big, plastic motorized swing a couple of weeks ago when Henry was being particularly fussy. Benjamin had liked it when he was Henry's age. Henry was too small for it at the time so the swing did nothing more than take up precious floor space in our apartment. The other night Gabe told Jeremy that we were going to return the swing. Jeremy smiled knowingly and suggested we hang on to it for a couple more weeks. This week when Henry's fussiness reached an all time high, and nothing would make him happy, we put him in the swing and it magically put him to sleep. GOD BLESS THE SWING!
The swing was an important lesson in parenting for me, in being flexible and doing what works. I'm not going to run out and buy every bouncer, womb simulator, wipe warmer, etc. but I won't be so stubborn as to deny my boy the plastic, motorized pleasures in life.

Aunt Julia
Born on the same day, these two have a special kinship. This is a new expression of Henry's. It looks like he can't decide whether to smile or cry.
9 weeks, 11 pounds and a hardy laugh
Henry had his two month check up yesterday. While the doctor was rotating his legs to check his hip joints, Henry let out an unmistakable laugh! It was fantastic. What was so funny, Henry?
I've been trying to get him to laugh ever since...

Bassinet
Everyone tells me to cherish the newborn time, that it just flies by. I usually nod my head politely having no idea what the next 24 hours will look like, let alone weeks and months. Henry is now two months old. It's hard for me to believe. I had to snap this photo today of him sleeping in his bassinet because he is very close to outgrowing it.
